Comprehensive ABA
Comprehensive Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) involves direct treatment with learners to develop or maintain various skills across multiple areas, including communication, social, behavioral, and daily living skills. While the primary goal is often to build new skills, the approach may also address behavior that interferes with community integration and daily living.
Access to comprehensive ABA should not be limited based on factors such as age, cognitive ability, diagnosis, or the presence of co-occurring conditions (CASP, 2024)
Targeted treatment areas are generally identified from the following areas:
- self-care skills
- attending to tasks
- cognitive functioning
- community participation
- coping and tolerance skills
- emotional development
- family relationships
- language and communication
- play and leisure activities
- pre-academic skills
- reduction of challenging behavior
- safety skills
- self-advocacy and independence
- self-management skills
- social skills
- pre-vocational skills
