Meet Shawn S., RBT, EMT!
Shawn has been with Partnership for Behavior Change since 2018 as a Registered Behavior Technician, credentialed by the BACB. Shawn also earned an associate’s degree in general studies, a technical certificate in emergency medicine, and is pursing a second associate’s degree in Paramedic Science. She is initially from New York, though she grew up locally in South Bend. Shawn enjoys cooking at home, and her favorite foods include chicken and pasta. When she isn’t working in the autism center or in an emergency room, Shawn can be found playing violin, shooting archery, practicing Jiu Jitsu, swimming, or spending time with animals. To Shawn, the most important aspect of Applied Behavior Analysis is “accurately taking data and charting it; without the data to show us trends, we cannot provide effective ABA services.” Her favorite part of the job is not just seeing learners master their goals and programs, rather it is seeing them be able to apply and generalize their skills in their lives. For Shawn, the most stressful part of the job involves helping to create office wide health protocols to keep both staff and learners safe and healthy. Shawn grew up wanting to go into medicine to help sick people. If you asked her coworkers what they would say about Shawn, they would say she is a lazy person’s worst nightmare. There is no task she cannot or will not conquer. Shawn looks forward to working with your learner and doing her part to ensure their safety!
